Watchers From Afar Empty Watchers From Afar

In a room filled only by firelight a figure stands facing a mirror, three other figures stand close by...watching the mirror's reflection as they had done for several days. The mirror's reflection showed not of the room within which it resides, but that of Anieniewen inside her treehouse...leaning forward with her head on the table...fast asleep.

A hand waves across the image, "Ligean cúnamh m'tusa" The image shows a half asleep Anieniewen preparing for bed as the caster's hands move slowly in front of the mirror.

"Rest...we shall see you soon, Anieniewen."

Exhausted by the spell...the caster steps back and sits in a large chair that has been pulled close.

"You must go. Tell the Overseer what has happened."

Two of those who stood watching leave the home to make the necessary reports.

The other kneels down beside the chair and whispers, "You rest too, it has been nearly three days. I will wake you when they return."

The runners return only to advise the council says to wait and that the druids and mages have joined them to discuss the matter at hand.

The next morning……a message is received from the council……

We, the members of the council, do hereby agree and grant permission to the druids and mages to see if the Tree of Life in Asguard can be saved. Since a Tree of Life affects all living things, not just the area it inhabits, it affects us as well. If the tree can be saved, only then will it be decided if we send any of our own druids to assist. Until such information is known, please advise us anything you may learn.

In another, smaller, firelit room the caster watches her mirror again. Over several weeks she watches images of Asguard, the grove, Anieniewen and Strowolf of and on.

The young King seeks the Druid of the Stone Circle Hano.
Asguard and its people seem peaceful, as does the grove....though it continues to rain in the grove.
Anieniewen has not left the grove since she returned...she is helping the people instead.
No sign of witches at this time.

Is there any news from the druids and mages yet?

The note is taken to the council by courier.

Alata Elen addresses the counsel.

Lords and Ladies we have all known each other for a very long time and at this time I urge you to send someone to look into this. But I warn you not to get to involved this was a human grove and they may take offense to elves showing up. Send someone young but wise and I will be near by to help guide them in this matter.

That evening Tristan Moonblades (Shayelle and Greyfeather’s youngest son) tells his parents he was chosen to take the items the druids and mages have created to test the tree for any sign of life. Shayelle tries to talk him out of it, but…much like his father…he could not be swayed once his mind was set on helping. She packs him a small crate with three bottles of wine (from the family groves of course), some smelling herbs (for those pounding headaches she knows he is likely to get) and a silver key that looks like a Blossom Tree – branches the body and roots the key. Tristan prepares his things for his journey. No sooner than he hammers the last fastener on the trunk shut, a knock comes at the door. A package arrives for Tristan with instructions to leave immediately for Tanamerah….a 2 month journey.

A messenger arrives to tell the council the druids have decided to prepare one of their own now that it has been determined there may be a chance at saving the tree.

Watchers From Afar Empty May 15, 2666

Again she stands before her mirror...ever watching the lands she swore so very long ago to protect. The Clans gather in mass in Asguard. King Thorson and his new Queen-to-be have returned from their talks with the other clans and now only await the journey to Manokwari.

"Time has passed too quickly there. Anieniewen may not be in time."

She waves her hand to see Anieniewen singing with the crew of the small boat on which she traveled pulling into the Tanamerah Docks. She calls the winds from an open window and whispers into it,

“They’ve gathered in Asguard and are preparing to leave. Make haste!” and sends it out to Anieniewen.

With another wave of her hand she sees a small framed elf talking with a deer on the boarders of Asguard.

“Good. At least one of you is there now. Soon, you both will be and the Guardians will watch the people while the warriors are away.”

After a quick message is written and sent to the Overseer advising her of the barbarian gathering and location of her Guardians, she waves her hand to watch the barbarian camps and her druid cousin while Anieniewen makes her way back to Asguard.
