Danger in the Ancient City

Sit right there and let me tell you at tale
If you think of the implications, it might make you wail.
There's a threat down below and it's coming for you and I.
Something that won't stop until we all beg to die.

Two adventurers grouped together, both brave and true
went to the Ancient City to see what they could do.
Jocelyn, a warrior beauty of great skill,
And yours truly, Zador Blackheart, looking for a thrill.

Skeletons we fought, fighting side by side,
We moved like lightning, they had nowhere to hide.
Magic and weapons they used to no avail,
Against our abilities, all they did was fail.

More and more we faced, never backing down,
Deeper we went underneath the town.
Something was changing, my unease grew,
Something was different, Jocelyn felt it too.

After a battle, I saw something new,
a being of great power, and away my courage flew.
Slowly we approached it, cautiously.
A witch we saw, who cackled with glee!

Leave this place or die she said with ire,
with a circle at her feet, made of fire!
Away we ran, but were chased by the dead,
So we turned to fight, with growing dread.

Having dispatched the dead, we turned to go,
But the witch had come, and stopped time's flow.
Paralyzed we were and I was filled with fear,
She taunted and laughed, then did something qu33r. //read the 3's as e's, since that word appears censored//

She let us go, without a bit of harm,
to warn the city counsel and raise the alarm.
Why did she do it, unless she'd prepared,
to face the city's power without being scared.

So to the counsel we went, reporting our tale,
And as we told, the aide grew pale.
She said she'd report it, to the magistrate,
Hopefully quick, before it's too late.

She then asked us not to say a word,
Didn't want the population's interest stirred.
Why shouldn't they be warned, Jocelyn declared,
In response the Aide just stared.

Then counsel aide then said it was okay,
The justicars would prevail, and win the day,
But still they do nothing, as if they're in cohorts,
And all the aides do is file reports.

Keep in mind she let us go,
to warn the city and she stops time's flow,
What can defenders do, when they are frozen,
To battle the city she has chosen.
